Assistant Attorney General - Criminal Enforcement - Criminal Trials Bureau - CarbondaleTitle: Assistant Attorney General Division: Criminal Enforcement Bureau: Criminal Trials Bureau - Carbondale The Criminal Trials Bureau assists State's Attorneys in the prosecution of criminal cases in all regions of the state. The Criminal Trials Bureau is part of the Criminal Enforcement Division which consists of several specialized bureaus that handle complex financial cases, public corruption matters, Medicaid fraud, high-tech crimes and cases seeking the involuntary commitment of the most dangerous sex offenders. The Criminal Enforcement Division also operates a statewide grand jury with jurisdiction over multi-county crimes related to drugs, gangs and guns. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The Criminal Trials Bureau seeks an experienced criminal prosecutor for an Assistant Attorney General position in the Carbondale office. Prosecutors working in this Bureau have wide-ranging duties including: investigation and prosecution of all Illinois criminal offenses, proceedings to commit sex offenders pursuant to the Sexually Violent Persons (SVP) and Sexually Dangerous Persons (SDP) Acts. Duties include handling motion hearings and trial work, managing extensive discovery, presenting and cross examining lay and expert witnesses, and working with the Department of Corrections and the Department of Human Services in various capacities. Qualified candidates will have significant criminal prosecution and trial experience and the ability to manage complex cases. Salary: Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of prosecution experience and must be licensed by the State of Illinois at the time of application. For those applicants with the minimum 3 years of post-graduate legal experience, salaries are commensurate with experience and start $79,008.
