ATTORNEY GENERAL MADIGAN PROVIDING RESOURCES TO ASSIST HOMEOWNERS IN CRISIS AT CHICAGO SATELLITE OFFICES
West Side and South Side Satellite Offices Open Late and on Saturday During Money Smart Week
Chicago – Attorney General Lisa Madigan will provide housing counselors and extend office hours at her South and West Side offices during “Money Smart Week” (April 17-24) to help homeowners in crisis. During the extended hours, consumers can talk directly with English- and Spanish-speaking housing counselors and pick up resources designed to help consumers who are struggling to make ends meet in these tough economic times.
“Money Smart Week” is a multi-state public awareness campaign designed to encourage financial literacy. Madigan’s West Side Regional Office is located at 306 N. Pulaski in Chicago. The South Side Regional Office is at 7906 S. Cottage Grove Ave. The extended hours at each office will occur on:
Participation in Money Smart Week is just one way that Attorney General Madigan is working to assist homeowners facing foreclosure. The Attorney General’s Consumer Fraud Bureau offers a variety of resources including a Homeowner Helpline (1-866-544-7151), which provides guidance to borrowers on how to save their homes. Madigan also encourages homeowners to visit her Web site at www.IllinoisAttorneyGeneral.gov, to access her Mortgage Rescue Fraud brochure and Illinois Mortgage Lending Guide, a resource manual containing step-by-step instructions for those struggling to make their loan payments and a list of HUD-certified housing counseling agencies.
