JOB OPPORTUNITIESOFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL POSITION: Internal Auditor BUREAU SERVED: Chief of Staff LOCATION: Springfield Office SALARY: Commensurate with experience SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Internal Auditor shall, under general direction, plan and develop audit programs for audit engagements, identifying audit objectives, scope and related audit procedures in accordance with professional auditing standards. The Internal Auditor shall conduct comprehensive examination and evaluation of fiscal operations, compliance, and information technology internal controls that may be of a routine and/or complex nature. He or she shall retrieve data extracts, compile and analyze data; prepare working papers and supporting schedules to document work performed; and prepare audit reports summarizing audit results, audit findings and recommendations. The Internal Auditor shall confer with management and staff on audit findings and implementation of suggested audit recommendations. The Internal Auditor shall continue to gain knowledge of state government best practices related to fiscal, compliance, and information systems; and state and federal statutes, rules, regulations; and professional auditing standards. He or she shall maintain confidentiality of all information obtained and processed through the Internal Audit function. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field, preferably with course work in auditing, accounting information systems and/or management information systems theory and procedures. Experience in governmental auditing, with strong focus on IT and/or accounting along with either a CPA, CISA or CIA preferred. The position requires good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with and interact with people at all levels of the organization.
