Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Tobacco Enforcement Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office is seeking attorneys who want to challenge themselves by working on complex regulatory and multi-state litigation matters. We seek attorneys with sound judgment and excellent research and writing skills. A strong candidate will have a demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for litigation and regulatory work. A strong candidate will also have 3-5 years of litigation and regulatory experience and a demonstrated commitment to public service.

The Bureau administers and enforces the provisions of the State escrow laws pertaining to certain tobacco manufacturers. The Bureau also enforces the State’s interests under the Master Settlement Agreement entered into with the manufacturers of tobacco products. The Bureau also is involved in multi-state efforts regarding tobacco and enforces various state statutes relating to the illegal manufacture and sale of cigarettes.

Salary: Salaries start at $50,508. Candidates must have 3-5 years of litigation or regulatory experience and be licensed by the State of Illinois. Newly licensed attorneys will not be considered.
