Job OpportunitiesAssistant Attorney General - Criminal Enforcement - Statewide Grand JuryTitle: Assistant Attorney General Division: Criminal Enforcement Bureau: Statewide Grand Jury - Springfield Office The Statewide Grand Jury prosecutes multi-county cases involving drugs, guns, or computers. Although cocaine and cannabis have historically been the primary focus of Statewide Grand Jury prosecutions, the Bureau has expanded its focus on methamphetamine cases, which are spreading throughout the state. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The candidate must be able to work all aspects of moderately complex drug felony prosecutions as assigned. The prosecutions are vertical, which is to say that the AAG is responsible for all phases of his or her case, from investigation and grand jury presentation, through trial and post-trial motions. Travel is frequent, as the jurisdiction of the Bureau comprises all 102 Illinois counties. Additional duties might include assisting other bureaus with criminal trials or civil detention hearings (SVP cases), prosecuting civil drug asset forfeitures or nuisance abatements, and preparing periodic activity reports. Salary: Salaries start at $50,508. Candidates must have a minimum of 2-3 years prosecution experience and must be licensed by the State of Illinois at the time of application.
