Assistant Attorney General - Criminal Enforcement - Revenue Prosecutions Unit - Special Prosecutions - SpringfieldTitle: Assistant Attorney General - Revenue Prosecutions Unit Division: Criminal Enforcement Bureau: Special Prosecutions - Springfield Description: The Office of the Illinois Attorney General is seeking an attorney in its Revenue Prosecution Unit. The attorneys in this Unit prosecute criminal violations of all state tax acts and provide legal assistance to Illinois Department of Revenue’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Unit attorneys also conduct grand jury investigations of tax fraud, review cases investigated by the Illinois Department of Revenue, and act as trial counsel at jury and bench trials. This is a non-union position. Job Duties: The AAG in this position will be required to:
Qualifications: Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Illinois. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest (i.e. internships, law school clinics, clerkships) in criminal law. A specific interest in white collar and tax crime prosecution is preferred. Ideal candidates will have a background in tax law or accounting and 2 or 3 years of post-graduate legal experience. Travel is required. Salary: Starts at $50,508.
